collective.
inn.wien sees itself not only as a concert ensemble, but as a collective that explores new forms of artistic work. Collective work is still a rarity in classical music. For an ensemble like inn.wien, this means questioning power relations, breaking up hierarchies and sharing responsibility. The ensemble also plays in large formations without a conductor, and there are no permanent principals or a permanent musical director. Musical decisions are made jointly when developing an interpretation.
The ensemble’s organizational working method is based on clear responsibilities and joint decision-making within a working group. Tasks are shared and individual talents are strongly encouraged as a result. inn.wien organizes itself entirely – from booking to graphic design and project management.
Regular jour fixes are used for joint planning, reflection and evaluation. This process is supplemented by team-building events and external input from renowned cultural figures such as Julia Lacherstorfer, Hannah Baumann, Annedore Oberborbeck and Jennifer Stumm.
