inn.wien ensemble

about us.

inn.wien is a collective of young, classically trained musicians based in Vienna.

With flexible lineups, extraordinary programs are created, and works from various genres are interpreted. The ensemble is primarily characterized by a strong chamber music sensibility and great artistic flexibility. The ensemble is entirely self-organized by the musicians.

The inn.wien ensemble has already performed at renowned venues such as the Wiener Konzerthaus, the Wiener Musikverein, and Porgy & Bess. In the upcoming season, debuts will follow at the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Brucknerhaus Linz, and the House of Music Budapest.

In September 2024, the debut album “LOST INSIDE” was released, together with the jazz trio Drehwerk.

The production “What on Earth!” – a staged concert performance for the whole family – which premiered in 2024, was awarded the international YAM “young audience music award” in 2025.

mission statement.

inn.wien can be a full string orchestra, a quartet, or anything in between. With a repertoire ranging from Baroque and classical to jazz and pop, we know that despite intensive classical training, we do not have to limit ourselves to one genre. What all our projects have in common, however, is a very high artistic standard and the mission to touch our audience in a special way. With a chamber music and collaborative approach, we manage to enchant the audience. We see our individual qualities and our differences as a strength. In today's world, we need this more than ever: cohesion despite differences, open ears for one another, an eye for the needs of others. Adhering to the shared vision of a better future is essential to truly make a difference. For us as a performing ensemble, this specifically means the future of the classical music scene, which we want to sustainably shape and influence. We dream of a world where classical music is for everyone. Everyone should have the opportunity to attend a concert and enjoy it. Classical music should not be elitist or stuffy. There should be no rules on how to play or listen to this music. When we perform, we want to be authentic. We want to still be ourselves on the biggest stages. Change starts small: with the dress code, with broken hierarchies, with open communication, with how we interact. Our values are clearly perceptible to our audience. With exciting and surprising programming and partly interdisciplinary concepts, we also reach those who would otherwise not come into contact with classical music. Broadly networked with diverse collaboration partners, we are firmly established in the Austrian cultural landscape, but also see an important part of our work abroad.
